First District Planning Meeting
Thursday, June 4 - Friday, June 5, 2026
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
My name is Sheldon J. Andrus III, founder of Andrus Advisory, where we help growing organizations find clarity, structure, and real systems.
I want to express my sincere gratitude to Bishop Samuel Green and the leadership of the First Episcopal District for the invitation to be with you.
This opportunity carries special meaning for me. My roots in the AME Church run deep. My grandfather was one of the founders of Allen Chapel AME Church in Thibodaux, Louisiana, in the Eighth Episcopal District. The church has always been a part of my family's story, and to stand before leaders of this historic denomination today is an honor I don't take lightly.
Professionally, I've spent the last fifteen years helping organizations navigate growth, build healthy teams, and create systems that support their mission. I've had the privilege of serving in higher education, nonprofits, and large, growing ministries, including organizations that expanded from thousands to tens of thousands of people.
Along the way, I've learned a simple truth: healthy organizations don't happen by accident. They are built intentionally.
That's what I'd like to explore with you today—how we move from vision to execution, how we develop leaders who can carry the weight of growth, and how we build ministries that last beyond our personalities, our programs, and even our generation.
hello

Session #1
Every organization grows through four stages—Family, Team, Army, Nation. But you can't build an army on a weak team. This session zooms in on Stage Two: the eight signs you're still running like a family, and the five shifts that build a team strong enough to carry what's next.

128 churches. 96% had the same hidden flaw—and once you see it, you can’t unsee it. It’s why people come… and never come back.
